Flyball

Part drag race, part relay race, flyball is a fast paced, high energy sport for dogs and their people. The 51 foot long course consists of four hurdles spaced 10 feet apart with a spring loaded box fifteen feet from the last hurdle and start line six feed from the first hurled. Races are run with two lanes side by side in very close proximity. The dogs must run down the course, leaping over the hurdles, trigger the box, catch the ball, then bring the ball back over the hurdles to their handler. As he crosses the start line, the next dog races down the course. The first team to have all four dogs finish without errors wins! Each year teams from all over the United States and Canada travel hundreds of miles weekend after weekend to participate in the sport of flyball. It’s almost as addictive to watch as to race!
